– A search for a man reported missing Monday ended when divers found his body in a pond near his home.
James Williams, 76, of 1589 Curry Road, in the Horneytown community, was found in a pond around 6:15 p.m., said Jack Jones, chief of the Horneytown Fire Department.
Jones said someone in the family called 911 to report the man missing. Dive teams from the Davidson Rescue Squad, Thomasville Rescue Squad, Fairgrove Fire Department and High Point Fire Department wereall called to thescene.
Divers from High Point were the first to arrive and found the body. Once they arrived, it took only a fewminutes to find the man’s body, Jones said.
It appeared that Williams had been mowing around the pond, which Jones estimated to be about 8 feet deep.
The Davidson County Sheriff ’s Office is continuing to investigate the man’s death
