Firefighter’s family extends its gratitude
The family of Capt. Tommy Preslar would like to thank the High Point Fire Department
for their tremendous amount of help, thoughtfulness and compassion during
the planning of Tommy’s funeral and wake. We would like to thank each of the
members of the Honor Guard, as well as all of the captains, chiefs and
retired firefighters who either attended or sent their condol
ences.
Tommy always wanted a
firefighter’s funeral, and everything went so well that we honestly feel
that a simple thank you doesn’t say enough. Everything was beautiful. From
the Honor Guard doing their shifts at the casket, to the pallbearers, the
presentation of the flag and Tommy’s helmet, to the final ringing of the bell,
we could have honestly not asked for a better farewell to our beloved Tommy
Preslar.
We also got to truly sense the
real brotherhood that firefighters share with each other, because there
were many firefighters who came that never knew Tommy, but had heard what
kind of captain he was and wanted to pay their respects. To us, that meant as
much as anything. Firefighters are always part of that big extended family,
no matter how long they’ve been away. You are all in our thoughts and prayers
every day. Thank you for everything, from the bottom of all of our hearts.
