The City of High Point is located in Guilford County NC, and is situated within 4 counties, including Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, and Randolph. High Point is known for the Home Furnishings Market that is held twice a year and attracts nearly 80,000 people bi-annually from all over the world. As of 2005 the population of High Point was 93,352 spread across 54 square miles with a possible 92 square miles with annexations. The city is protected and served by 226 Fire Department personnel housed in 14 fire stations throughout the city. Of these 226 personnel there is: - 1 Chief -1 Chiefs Aid ( Rank of Battalion Chief ) -3 Deputy Chiefs -204 Firefighters ( included are 6 Battalion Chiefs) that cover three shifts (A,B,C). Firefighters work a schedule of ( 24on, 24off, 24on , 24off, 24on , 4 days off) All on line personnel are trained in Fire Suppression and either Technical Rescue, Haz-Mat Response, Dive/Water Rescue and Fire Prevention/Safety. - 2 Training Officers -6 Fire Inspectors -3 F/T Mechanics and 1 P/T -1 Logistics Officer - 4 Office Personnel The fire departments fleet of apparatus consist of : 9 Engines / 3 Pumper Tankers / 4 Aerials / 3 Squads / 2 Battalion Chief Suburban's 1 Air Unit / 2 Haz-Mat Units / 1 Dive Truck w/ Boat / 1 Tech Rescue Truck and Trailer 1 Truck w/ Safety Trailer / 4 Reserve Engines / 2 Reserve Ladders / Not included are Administration, Inspections, and Shop Vehicles In 2007 the Fire Department responded to 11194 calls.
